Got this myself on my phone, and it simply declined to update. Below's what benefited me.

Edit: this appears to be an issue that Facebook understand. It's a concern with the Facebook application, and not a generalised Play Shop issue.

This is what helped me at least.

  1. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Shop, Clear data as well as Clear cache

  2. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Services > Manage area, Clear all information and also Clear cache


It doesn't hurt if you restart your phone before you attempt upgrading facebook once more. As well as, the set up was SLOW. Simply a minimum of 4-5 mins. But, it did job. Otherwise attempt to uninstall it, or simply wait for a repair.
